A Crooked Crowd
Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Percussion, Piano, Violin, Violin, Viola, Cello – 4’
A Crooked Crowd takes its title from the jagged, angular melodic material at its core. After a brief introduction, the piece settles into a loose ABA form built from a handful of recurring rhythmic and melodic ideas: the outer sections push that material forward with bright, restless energy, while the middle section slows it down and lets it turn lyrical.
